This is the new entry in my workshop! I wanted to give my projects a bit more of a professional look by painting them with a high quality finish. As most of the time happens in my case I had to face lots of different problems and choose a trade off in order to satisfy at least the main requirements I had in mind.
- Have the possibility to spray thick paint like water based laquer
- Be able to easily transport the whole thing without having to move the air compressor from my garage
- Ease to clean
- Not too loud
- Limited budget
- Good quality and customer support
After a lot of research I found out that this unit from Wagner is the most suitable for me concerning the above points also because the other alternative I was looking for is the Graco paint sprayer which is way more expensive and very difficult to find in Italy. There is also another choice from Wagner: the W570 which is almost identical to the 590 but doesn’t have a fine adjustment of the motor as you can just set it either to low or high. In the W590 you can instead tune the air flow quite precisely as you have 10 different settings.
I wasn’t ready to buy it since I was waiting to finish the assembly process of my new project (DIY MDF cabinet with drawer) but while navigating on the web I realized that a special price was available and I decided to buy it on Amazon here for 149 € which is to me a fairly good price. Unfortunately I just saw that the current price is 180 €.
After just three days I received it from Germany and this is what I get:

Inside the package you’ll find the actual motor and two different nozzles: the iSpray and the detail one. You will also receive

Today I also tried it to spray a coat of water based primer but I have to say it has been harder than I thought as I didn’t find out how to set it properly in order to get a good coverage without having so much overspray and big drops all around. But I was tired because my wife and I just had a baby boy, therefore I decided to clean everything up and planned to do another test once I’ll be a bit more relaxed and I am pretty much confident I’ll get some very good results. Fingers crossed!
Stay tuned to read the outcome of this test!
Cheers
Max
