TACKLIFE PRS01A Random Orbit Sander

After a long time, here I am again. I had a lot of stuff to do at home because I am reorganising my apartment for the birth of my first child: first I painted the walls of his room which was before actually my studio and then tried to put all of my stuff in another room. To do that I had to build a new desk for my computer and some shelves (I am going to write a new post some more details) for all the books that my wife and me own. I decided to use OSB because it’s cheap, stable and why not modern looking. But.. it takes a lot of sanding. I started before with a palm sander made by BOSCH, a PSM100 (here is the link Amazon) and it took me a ton of time: on of the most boring stuff I have ever tried. Then I thought “why not trying the multi tool”. So I attached the sanding extension of my WORX WX680 mooltitool (you can buy it from amazon for 120 € here) which is by the way super handy for a huge variety of different tasks, believe me. Using it was a bit of an upgrade in terms of timing and results but I have to say that after two shelves I was really tired because of the weight and the vibrations.

Long story short I decided it was the time of a new power tool in my beginner’s workshop: a new random orbit sander. Problem is that as most of you DIYers know the power tools are super expensive especially because you need to buy a lot of different tools for different tasks. This was the case: I was a bit upset to spend 120-170 € for a simple motor with a piece of sanding paper attached to it. Turns out, after having done some research on the web, there is this company that makes cheap power tools and everyone is happy about the quality.

So I decided to buy a Tacklife PRS01A without big expectations. Here is the box I received from Amazon (link) for 33€.

A simple but clean packaging

Honestly? I wouldn’t expect so much quality. It does not feel cheep at all! Ok, you don’t get a nice hard box like the one you get buying a Marita or something similar but still.. they also give you a set of 12 sanding sheets with different grains so that you can try it out right away. The product quality is really high design wise and from an ergonomic standpoint.

The content of the box

The top is mad out of soft plastic which becomes nice when you have to sand for hours because it makes the vibrations a bit more gentle for your hands. And by the way the vibration level is reasonable.

There is a soft plastic top
The filtration device

On the back you have this nice dust extraction system which works really good and prevents the dust of going everywhere. If you’re used to your shopvac you can just remove this device and attach your hose directly on his back.

Working results for me are superb: it works well, fast, not too noisy, providing a smooth finish of the surfaces, which is the reason why I bought it.

For me it’s definitely APPROVED!

I will continue to use it and give some more feelings in the next weeks so..

Stay tuned!

p.s.: I just made the shopvac hose adapter for this sander. You can find it here on Thingiverse.
